WOODWAY Theyre the worst of tenants. Theyre destructive, they eat everything in sight and they dont know when its time to leave.
Gypsy moths native to Asia have set up camp in some Snohomish County forests, and theyre getting evicted this spring.
Nearly 1,300 acres in Woodway and an Everett neighborhood south of Mukilteo Boulevard will be sprayed with insecticide dropped from a height of 100 to 200 feet by an airplane to stop the moths from spreading and to prevent them from gobbling up forest foliage.
The first Hokkaido gypsy moth showed up in Woodway last year. It was reportedly the first of that type of moth found in the United States. Moths near the Boulevard Bluffs neighborhood have also tested positive for both European and Asian genetic traits, and the state Department of Agriculture intends to eradicate them.

I had a moth infestation about 5 years ago.
I had to clean every single item to be seen and wash everything in sight.
I had the washing machine and the dryer going full-time for a month straight from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
I hired a man to steam clean the entire house.
By the time it was over, I had to throw away two beds, a sofa and a lot of clothing as the larvae were everywhere to be found in hiding. I lost and spent close to $5,000 to get rid of these damned moths. What a damn hell! I felt like burning the whole place down before it was over. That is how very bad it was.
I was told they'd come back but, being I worked so hard and for so long, I did manage to get rid of them but my what a horrible thing to suddenly be infested with. I would not wish this on anyone.
As for this type pf moth now being found, they sound like an even worse type of moth to get rid of, if at all possible!
The infestation occurred during the height of the drought in California, so yes, it was due to climate change without a doubt.
& recommend!
