Kitsap County - No confirmed COVID-19 cases this week

Officials warn against letting 'our guard down'

There have been no new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kitsap County since last week, but local health officials say it is too early to determine if the pandemic’s trajectory in the West Sound is improving.

Kitsap has 132 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday afternoon, figures that have remained stagnant since four positive cases were confirmed on April 9. But as testing remains limited, the Kitsap Public Health District says it's too early to draw broad conclusions about virus’ spread and cautioned residents to continue staying home.

There have been more 2,690 tests administered in Kitsap as of April 13, according to the state health department. About 5% of those tests have come back positive, which Kitsap health officials believe are accurate figures.

However, there have been complications with overall testing figures. State officials have struggled to report negative test results since the start of April, which they attribute to technical difficulties with the state’s tracking database. On Tuesday, the state resumed reporting negative tests, though the most recent figures could be incomplete.
