Democrats to nominate potential successors for John McCoy

EVERETT — Democratic activists will gather Saturday to choose potential successors to state Sen. John McCoy, who retired April 17.

And they are going to take steps to fill a potential opening in the state House as well.

Precinct officers in the 38th Legislative District will meet at 10 a.m. via a video teleconference to nominate three people for the senate seat.

The names will be forwarded to the Snohomish County Council, which will appoint one to serve through the November election. At that time, voters will choose someone to complete the final two years of McCoy’s term.
