The U.S. Air Force will be saluting health care workers on the front lines in the battle against the coronavirus by conducting flyovers around dozens of local hospitals Friday afternoon.
Starting at 12:30 p.m. at Madigan Army Hospital and then crisscrossing their way around the Puget Sound region over the next 2.5 hours, the 62nd Airlift Wing from Joint Base Lewis-McChord will have a C-17 Globemaster III two-ship formation fly over a total of 43 health care facilities.
"The 62nd AW salutes each American serving on the frontlines in combat against the COVID-19 pandemic," U.S. Air Force Col. Robert Lankford, commander of the 62nd Operations Group, said in a statement released to the press. We are grateful for the opportunity to show our appreciation to local heroes, and look forward to a time when we can embrace one another without fear.

THEY ARE CANNON FODDER!
That's what our country REALLY thinks of them.

(4,483 posts)Who cares about flyovers except maybe other pilots? It is my belief that a majority of fans of NASCAR are there to see a car wreck, and I believe that a majority of civilians who enjoy flyovers are hoping to see a plane crash. In this case, right into a hospital. Great job.

In the movie Gladiator, an evil, corrupt leader Commodus knows he can control all of the Roman Empire, dismantle the Senate, kill those not loyal to him and for the citizens of Rome to live him he just keeps them fed with free bread and entertained with sport. All Empty gestures to give the appearance of governing and care for its citizens.... just like military fly overs but no real help for those he is entertaining.
