Yakima County ag workers need assistance

Yakima County has the highest incidence of Covid-19. Nursing homes and agricultural/food processing workers account for the high numbers. The state sent people to nursing homes to help but it is the ag workers who really need help. Some are striking for better working conditions - as in the kind that won't make them susceptible to the virus. They need some distancing and PPE. How absurd is it that the owners won't automatically address those needs - from a humanitarian standpoint and even a profit standpoint?

I have written to Gov. Inslee and I hope you do too. As this state opens up, those who can work from home probably will continue but those going back to their workplaces deserve adjustments to be made that will protect their health. This really pisses me off - talk about slave labor for those who have!! Is that really a given?

on the east side. I actually see some of the Spanish workers with masks in the local stores, more so than the locals. I also see large numbers of workers at work with NO masks because the employer does not supply them with masks, or any other PPE. The only workers that get masks are this who drive tractors when spraying the crop.

I agree that the agriculture employers need to start providing safety gear from the workers.
