King County gets approval to proceed with limited reopening
State health officials have approved King County's request to allow some businesses to serve customers inside for the first time in months, as part of a modified Phase 1 in Gov. Jay Inslee's "Safe Start" plan.
Effective immediately, restaurants can serve customers outdoors at 50% capacity, provided tables and chairs are at least 6 feet apart, according to a King County news release. Indoor dining will be allowed at 25% capacity.
Nonessential retail stores may open as long as signs are posted encouraging customers to spend no more than 30 minutes inside, and the stores do not exceed occupation of 15% capacity. Face-to-face interactions are also limited to 30 minutes.
Personal services, including barbers, salons, tattoo artists and estheticians, may reopen as long as the number of customers inside do not exceed 25% capacity.
