Silent marches planned statewide Friday to support Black Lives Matter

SEATTLE - Silent marches and a general strike are planned across the state Friday in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. One of the largest marches is expected to be in Seattle.

The goal of marchers is to make a powerful statement without saying a word - walking in silence to speak out about racism and police brutality.

Ebony Miranda, chair of Black Lives Matter Seattle-King County, said the group is planning a silent march in communities all over the state of Washington.

"We are calling on everyone in Washington state who is able to be there," she said. "If you can't march in Seattle, then organize one in your community."
