Marysville man, 21, dies after sustaining firework injuries

MARYSVILLE — A 21-year-old man has died from injuries sustained from a firework explosion on the Fourth of July.

Marysville firefighters and police were called to the 15000 block of 51st Avenue NE around 11:50 p.m. Saturday.

After an investigation, police determined the death was accidental after a mortar-style firework exploded prematurely.

Fireworks have been illegal in Marysville since 2017.

I believe prior to the full ban any mortar type firework required a pyrotechnic license.
