Seattle-based kitchen retailer Sur La Table filed Wednesday for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the District of New Jersey.
The company is working on a sale with California-based STORY3 Capital Partners, affiliates of Fortress Investment Group, according to a press release.
The move comes after it was rumored the company might pursue the restructuring and potential sale under a bankruptcy filing months before.
CEO Jason Goldberger could not be reached for immediate comment, but he said in a press release a sale would revitalize the company and position it to thrive in a post Covid-10 retail environment.
This sale process will result in a revitalized Sur La Table, positioned to thrive in a post COVID-19 retail environment. Sur La Table will have a balance sheet and retail footprint optimized to position the Company for a bright future that continues our nearly 50-year tradition of offering high-quality cooking products and experiences to our customers, Goldberger said in a press release.
