Governor Inslee meets with South King County leaders to discuss COVID hotspot

Infection rates in south King County are increasing at an alarming pace, which prompted a visit by Gov. Jay Inslee on Friday.

As in so many places, south county cities are seeing a spike in young people testing positive although public health officials said there is a rise across all age groups.

With the local economy finally limping along, many local business owners worry they’ll have to close again and they want some commitments from the governor before things get out of hand.

“If it's necessary to roll back because of a spike in infections then there needs to be some assistance to our smaller businesses in the area,” said Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell.
