Red Flag Warning issued for portions of western Washington on Labor Day

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for some areas of western Washington, including portions of the Puget Sound lowlands. That means fire danger is relatively high.

The northeast and southeast Puget Sound lowlands - below 1,500 feet - are affected by the warning, along with the western slopes of the north and central Cascades and east portion of the Olympics.

The Red Flag Warning went into effect from 11 a.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Wednesday for those impacted areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), "A Red Flag Warning means warm temperatures, very low humidities, and stronger winds are expected to combine to produce an increased risk of fire danger."

Any fires that develop have the potential to spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
