Rain, cleaner air is coming to Seattle. When will it arrive, will it last?
People in the Seattle area woke up Thursday morning once again to unhealthy air quality conditions as wildfire smoke continues to blanket the region.
But there is good news.
According to the National Weather Service, there were small improvements in the air quality overnight.
"There are even some locations toward the coast that have improved into the Good category," the NWS tweeted Thursday.
And the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency is predicting it will get better soon. As of Thursday morning, air quality index readings from the Washington State Department of Ecology showed "unhealthy" to "very unhealthy" conditions in Seattle.
"We expect relief from the thick blanket of smoke covering our region sometime Thursday night or Friday, when a storm should begin to clear things out," the agency said on its website, with the warning: "Conditions may change."
