11 places to watch the salmon spawn in Seattle this fall

It's nearly October already, and we too have pretty much lost track of what month it already is, let alone what day of the week it is.

But with the months separating the heat of summer from the chill of autumn in full swing, it's just about that time for all manner of socially-distanced salmon spotting.

From sockeyes and reds, to chinook, coho and silver salmon, spotting the fish may continue through November, though the best time is typically the last two weeks of September.

Despite the beloved Ballard Locks being closed in wake of the novel coronavirus, we've rounded up 11 Seattle-area streams and rivers to watch the salmon migrate from the ocean to the upper reaches of rivers for spawning. Scroll down.
