The beloved basement bar frequented by University of Washington students and professors alike will live on under new ownership.
After shuttering in July, the College Inn Pub was thought to be one of the many coronavirus-related restaurant closures that had been hitting the Emerald City since March.
As the pub had been in business for over 46 years, the closure was an insurmountable loss for the neighborhood and Facebook tributes to the iconic watering hole began pouring in.
"First bar I ever got thrown out of," one assertive Seattleite wrote, while one graduate student lamented that "so many beers, laughs, and thesis tears have spilled across these tables below the street."

Been years, actually decades since I've been there. Glad to hear it survives.

(1,035 posts)If this pub started in 1974 and is the same one, then my friends and I were among the first customers. It looks like it is in the right corner on University. We used to go to a pub within walking distance of Bagley hall for a late dinner and a pitcher. They had chili and stews. The stew bowls came with the best hard roll I have ever enjoyed. I think there were a couple of steps down to get into the pub at the time (not sure). If so, glad to see it still in business.
