Seattle police announce new charges linked to protests last month

Seattle police on Monday announced the arrests of two suspects accused of attacking law enforcement officers during protests last month that turned chaotic and violent.

Jacob Greenberg, 19, has been charged with attempted arson, assault and reckless burning, all first-degree offenses.

Investigators said the charges filed against Greenberg include his alleged participation in setting fires in the city during the unrest as well as using a metal baseball bat to hit a Seattle officer in the head on Sept. 23. Authorities say the force from the blow caused the officer's helmet to crack.
