Washington
Related: About this forumOther states should look to Washington for a voting system. Its sad to see what goes on elsewhere
Ballots and voter guide mailed to all registered voters. Mail in and numerous drop boxes (in case the Donald messes with the USPS). The ballot paper trail allows us recover from bad guy interference. Easy registration, Same day voting. And last but not least NO Lines The news said Seattle is hoping for a 90% turnout (I`ll believe it when I see it). We are so lucky.

(60 posts)The more they are used the better. Luckily, as long as the mail in ballots are postmarked on time the will be counted. It should be a crime to put up the roadblocks to voting that so many states do. One of Biden`s first priorities should be a polished restoration of the voting rights act.
Who would, have believed that the Republicans would go so far as to sabotage the mail to steal an election. They need to be spanked big time.

(10,866 posts)Truth be told, our current Secretary of State is a Republican. Any other year, I would vote for her again. But this year, I had to vote for Gael Tarleton. I want the GOP to become a minority party in this country, no more influential than the green party.

(24,726 posts)This came up JUST as I was commenting to my husband that I could NEVER live in a red state.
My daughter moved to MT a few years ago and sadly, I think they are going to go all red this year! Their wonderful Dem Senator John Tester is not on the ballot.
They will lose their Dem Governor Bullock who is running v. Daines (incumbent) for Senator and looks like he will lose.
At governor the Dems chose an old white guy v. the most horrible Gianforte. That's on the MT Dem party.
They have one Congressional rep and that race is at 50-50 rn.
I know that the results of this election will include some sad losses as well as great wins.
(We were considering following our daughter to MT, but there is no way I will leave my liberal Washington!). I assume we all think Inslee's got this in the bag? I live over on the dry side and have one of only a few Inslee signs; most are for - ugh - Culp! HS dropout. Racist, misogynist. Go figure.

(757 posts)so they have all (almost all) the totals by the time the polls close.
This is the way to vote, Americans. We can all have our votes (easily from our kitchen tables) and have all our votes counted (but unfortunately not with this current Supreme Court. I hope Biden will rebalance the Courts).

(1,474 posts)I have loved the past 10 years, as I came to the state early in Obama's presidency. The absolute ease of voting was wonderful.
And I was very happy when the caucuses switched over to ballots. I did not like having to go fight with people in a room about who are nominated should be. In 2016, I actually sat out the primary because I was afraid of being assaulted.
Now, with ballots by mail and a primary that is conducted rationally, I think our state is perfect.
