Report: Boeing 737 Max could be ungrounded in the US next week

The Federal Aviation Administration is said to be in the final stages of its recertification work on the Boeing Co. 737 Max and could lift the grounding order on the aircraft next week.

According to a report from Reuters, the FAA could clear the Max for operations in the U.S. as early as Nov. 18.

The Max has been grounded since March 2019 following two crashes in five months that killed all 346 people aboard the aircraft.

While airlines would have to follow that ungrounding with the software upgrades and new pilot training that are part of the jet’s return, it would fit a timeline of Boeing’s hopes to begin delivering the Max to customers again before the end of the year, even as it awaits similar clearance from other global regulators.

I am a private pilot and have been following what has been happening with the 737 MAX. Given all the work that Boeing and the FAA did, this will be one of the safest airline planes you can fly. The problem was really a simple issue, but as a matter of caution, things have run very slowly.

It is in our national interest to fly Boeing aircraft given our balance of payments and the fact that the pilot is usually the first one to the scene of the accident.
