Inslee announces $135 million to help businesses, residents across Washington impacted by pandemic

Gov. Jay Inslee on Friday announced a package of $135 million in economic support to help businesses and residents across Washington impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The package will include $70 million in grants to help support businesses, $30 million to create a recovery loan program for businesses, $20 million for rental assistance for residents struggling to pay rent and $15 million for utility assistance for low-income households.

"We are in a very difficult situation and we are acting to save people's lives in the state of Washington, but we also need to act to help people whose economic prospects have been damaged by this pandemic," Inslee said during a news conference Friday.

"We need to take action on all fronts including helping folks, employees whose jobs may be lost and businesses who will have tough days ahead."
