10 arrested during Olympia hotel sweep of group demanding pandemic housing
Olympia officials remained firm Monday, saying that they will not be changing the way the city approaches homelessness, in the wake of a group of activists staging an attempted takeover of a Red Lion Hotel.
Ten people have been taken in custody, after an incident on Sunday that saw law enforcement rush in and sweep the hotel in downtown Olympia. The Red Lion was filled with a group who attempted to seek pandemic housing.
We will continue to operate our homeless response in the same manner that we have, in a fair impartial manner, and in keeping with the laws of the state of Washington, Assistant City Manager Keith Stahley said in a Monday press conference.
Homeless activists with a group called Oly Housing Now occupied the hotel after advocates booked 17 rooms and demanded Sunday that Thurston County continue to pay for the room with Federal Emergency Management Agency funding.

This is a little better article than the one done by the KOMO Sinclair station.
It's a noble goal to want to deal with homelessnes. Taking over private property however is not the way to go about that.
