'Significantly colder conditions': Temperatures in Seattle expected to drop to lows in 20s next week
It's been a wet and relatively warm start to 2021 in Seattle, but if you thought winter was over, think again: next week will bring "significantly colder conditions" including low temperatures in the upper 20s Tuesday through Thursday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) is currently predicting that this weekend will be a windy one, with gusts in Seattle reaching peaks of 30-35 mph Saturday through Sunday followed by a cold front next week.
"Main focus for next week will be the trend toward significantly colder and likely drier conditions across western Washington. Guidance continues to indicate the arrival of colder air starting Monday, but enhancing as offshore flow develops and strengthens towards the middle of the week," NWS wrote in its Friday morning briefing.
Overnight lows are expected to be near or below freezing Tuesday through Thursday and could impact outdoor pipes, plants and pets. Currently, lowland snow is not expected as drier conditions will persist.
