Snoqualmie and Stevens passes closed by high avalanche danger
U.S. 2 at Stevens Pass, U.S. 12 at White Pass and I-90 at Snoqualmie Pass closed Sunday at 6 p.m. due to heavy rains and increased avalanche danger, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced.
The passes remained closed overnight, and there is currently no estimated reopening time for Stevens Pass. WSDOT crews will evaluate the highway at 2 p.m. Monday.
White Pass reopened at 10 a.m. and Snoqualmie Pass is estimated to reopen at noon Monday.
Eastbound I-90 traffic is stopped near North Bend, and westbound traffic is stopped at Easton and near Cle Elum and Ellensburg.
