Kirkland Extends Coronavirus Closures Through June 1
KIRKLAND, WA Kirkland's administrative buildings will stay closed to the public until at least June 1 under extended coronavirus safety precautions, city officials announced Monday. The closures remain in place for City Hall, the Kirkland Justice Center and the North Kirkland and Peter Kirk community centers.
"This decision was made after careful consultation with our emergency management staff and our fire department, and after thoughtful review of current COVID-19 case trends and vaccination rates," the city wrote Monday. "The continued closure is meant to support the health and safety of our residents and our employees by minimizing the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus."
Many city services remain available online and can be found on the city's website. Residents who prefer to drop off utility payments in-person may do so at a dropbox placed outside the north entrance City Hall. While passport services are unavailable through City Hall, residents can book appointments directly through the U.S. Postal Service.
More details about accessing city services during the pandemic are available on the Kirkland website.
