Boeing: Big Southwest order 'brings more stability' to Renton plant, supply chain

Boeing and Southwest Airlines said Monday the Dallas-based carrier will build its business around 737 Max jets for years to come, signing a complex deal for 100 737 Max 7 airplanes and 155 options to buy more jets.

The first 30 of Southwest's 100 Max 7s — the smallest Max model — will be delivered in 2022, the airline said.

That model is now undergoing certification by the Federal Aviation Administration, Boeing confirmed.

The Southwest 100 Max 7 jet order involves the conversion of 70 previously ordered Max 8 jets to smaller Max 7 models and keeps Southwest an all-Boeing airline.
