Inslee loosens indoor dining restrictions, but it's too soon for some restaurateurs

Some restaurateurs in Washington will not be opening up even as Gov. Jay Inslee ushers the state into Phase 3 of the reopening plan, which allows restaurants to open at 50% capacity.

The reason: vaccinations. Many restaurant owners are waiting for their workers to be fully vaccinated. Restaurant workers aren't eligible to be vaccinated until Wednesday.

“We are the most at-risk industry, employers (and) employees, than anyone in the country,” said renowned chef Edouardo Jordan, owner of Ravenna restaurants Junebaby and Salare. “It’s super important that my staff is protected and feels comfortable.”

As restaurants continue to bleed revenue, President Joe Biden opened up $28.6 billion in relief to restaurants as part of the $1.9 trillion stimulus package into law in March.
