Rising COVID metrics in King, Snohomish counties stir fears of phase rollback

Friday was the first night that Pierce County restaurants and bars had to stop serving alcohol at 11 p.m. after the county was ordered this week to revert back to Phase 2 of the state's reopening plan because of worsening COVID-19 case metrics.

Officials in King and Snohomish counties wonder if they will have to follow suit.

The second phase requires a return to 25 percent capacity for restaurants, except for eateries like the Blazing Onion in Tacoma, which the governor's office is allowing to maintain 50 percent capacity if its windows remain open during business operating hours.

“It’s been a struggle," said manager Darius Hunter. “I think just trying to figure out going back and forth. That’s the biggest thing and it would be nice to know what the end game is going to be.”
