Tacoma Rainiers plan separate seating for vaccinated and non-vaccinated fans

On the day Covid-19 vaccination sites debuted during Mariners games at T-Mobile Park, the Tacoma Rainiers announced a plan to expand capacity at their home games by designating additional seating for fans who have been vaccinated.

The vaccinated sections at Cheney Stadium will be available for the team's first six home games beginning Thursday, allowing the Rainiers to reach up to 50% capacity.

Fans must provide proof of vaccinations to be seated in the designated sections; otherwise, they will be moved to non-vaccinated areas of the park or receive a voucher for a future game. The vaccinated sections won't have social distancing restrictions but spectators will have to wear face masks.

“This guidance gives vaccinated fans the chance to safely gather for Rainiers baseball, without distancing, and feel a sense of normalcy that we’ve deeply missed for too long,” Tacoma Rainiers President Aaron Artman said.
