Skip the line: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport pilots new virtual queuing program for TSA lines
You might be able to skip those long security lines next time you fly out of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
The airport announced this week that it is piloting a new virtual queuing program and touchless check-in kiosk system in order to streamline the customer experience, improve physical distancing efforts and reduce congestion at peak travel times.
The new "SEA Spot Saver" program will allow travelers to make digital reservations for TSA general screening security checkpoints either at their terminal or 24 hours ahead of the flight online. Once in the virtual queue, passengers can drop off their bags, grab a coffee or say goodbye to loved ones while awaiting a notification that will tell them it is their turn for screening.
"We can use technology to make the travel experience more streamlined and intuitive," said Port of Seattle Commissioner Sam Cho in a news release. "Touchless solutions reduce stress for those traveling today, but are the kind of innovations that will make the airport safer and more efficient for years to come."
