Gov. Jay Inslee announced some "unique incentives" to encourage more Washington residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 on Thursday including cash prizes worth $2 million.
Administered by the Washington State Lottery, the "Shot of a Lifetime" promotion will include five weekly drawings for vaccinated Washingtonians using the names of people entered in the Department of Health's immunization database, regardless of when they received the vaccine.
The first four drawings, which will occur each Tuesday, will be for cash prizes worth $250,000, while the final drawing on July 13 will be for a $1 million cash prize.
"These generous programs will encourage more Washingtonians to take this life-saving vaccine," Inslee said during a press conference Thursday. "I hope people will see this as an opportunity to reopen even sooner than June 30th if we can stay motivated, stay informed and get more people vaccinated faster throughout the month of June."

Washington is set for a full reopening June 30, or when the percentage of eligible adults 16 and older who have received at least one dose reaches 70 percent, whichever comes first.
