Grants for affordable housing development up for grabs in Snohomish County

Snohomish County is urging developers to submit applications for grants to offset the cost of developing affordable housing and shelter projects and to enable home ownership. An estimated $2 million in federal and local funding is available.

Approximately $1.2 million in HOME Investment Partnership Program federal funds will be available for the 2022 program year, which starts July 1, 2022. These funds are distributed by local councils, the county and the Department of Urban and Development.

Another estimated $793,222 of local funds will be available under the county's chemical dependency and mental health sales tax program. Housing must serve those with chemical dependency or mental health issues.

Nonprofit organizations, for-profit developers and government agencies are eligible. The projects must benefit low-income people in Snohomish County.

Rentals are way beyond a $15/hour wage.

Purchases are for those that don't earn wages - are just wealthy.
