Hundreds of condos, townhomes planned for Puetz Golf property in North Seattle
Another Seattle landmark is teed up for redevelopment, this time the North Seattle property where a Puetz Golf store and driving range has operated for decades.
Pulte Homes of Washington is proposing a project called Two Degrees, which totals around 120 townhouses and 120 condos in a mid-rise building on the nearly 7.6-acre property. The townhouses will be three stories and have around 155 parking stalls, most in an enclosed garage, and the five-story condo includes about 160 stalls, mostly underground.
Owner Dave Puetz, whose dad and uncle started the company in 1945, said high taxes are forcing the sale to Pulte Homes, the third-largest homebuilder in the country. "The government taxes you off your property," he said.
Pulte declined the Business Journal's request for an interview but said the two- to four-bedroom townhomes will range from approximately 1,350 to 1,750-plus square feet with two-car garages. One- to two-bedroom condos will range from 950 to 1,450-plus square feet.

On its face it seems like a big risk for Pulte, with Aurora Avenue being a gritty corridor where sex workers are not an uncommon sight. This has hardly dampened the real estate market in North Seattle, according to Northwest Multiple Listing Service data. In May, pending sales of single-family and condominium homes in that area were up 55% year over year, with median closed sale prices having jumped 26% to $950,000.
