I-90 homeless camp being cleared after dangerous debris-throwing incidents

SEATTLE - Crews are clearing out a homeless encampment along a stretch of Interstate 90 that's become notorious for people throwing debris at drivers on the freeway.

Hundreds of drivers have reported rocks, bikes, propane tanks, bricks and all kinds of other debris hurled at them for months now.

Crews from the city of Seattle and state Department of Transportation arrived at 9 a.m. Thursday to clear out the camp just west of the Mount Baker Tunnel that is in close proximity to those debris-throwing reports.

Outreach workers also are at the camp, offering what assistance they can to those living there.
