Poulsbo Council approves transportation benefit district, $20 car tab fees for streets
POULSBO City Council members signed off on establishing a transportation benefit district Wednesday, a move that will allow the city to implement a $20 car tab fee that city officials have said would be used to fund improvements to neighborhood streets.
Council members approved the measure 6-0.
The city has estimated that the transportation benefit district would generate $90,000 a year, and City Council members have said the money would be used to fund work on quieter, residential streets. Fees would apply to vehicles registered within the district, which has the same boundaries as the city of Poulsbo.
We know where our gaps are and neighborhood streets are a major failing, unintended, the streets have failed, council member Britt Livdahl said during the councils Wednesday night discussion.
