As omicron variant surges, state officials urge residents to get vaccine booster shot
State health leaders are launching an all-out effort to encourage vaccinated people to obtain a booster shot as part of the effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the omicron variant that has become the dominant strain of the virus.
But only a third of the state's vaccinated residents have received a booster shot.
Gavin Robinson recently received his booster shot and he said he was eager to do so.
“I believe it’s my civic duty as a member of this community to protect myself and others from COVID-19," he said. "It took my grandma’s life, so I just like to prevent it from taking anyone else. And I think it’s a miracle that we have the vaccine in the first place.”
