King Co., Kirkland, in discussions to use La Quinta Inn for housing homeless

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The La Quinta Inn may soon become a place for the county to house the homeless.

The City of Kirkland confirmed it was in talks with King County about the purchase as part of the Health Through Housing Initiative through the county.

Kirkland City Manager Kurt Triplett said he expects the county to make a decision in days or possibly weeks.

“King County is considering La Quinta, as it is the only hotel in Kirkland that meets King County’s criteria,” Triplett said. “The City does support this potential purchase of La Quinta Inn for permanent supportive housing, with the appropriate operating conditions and community engagement.
