SEATTLE (KOMO) One day after Gov. Jay Inslee announced some details of his ambitious $800 million plan to address homelessness in Washington state, several Republican lawmakers said Friday that the proposal is a waste of taxpayers' dollars and will spawn more bureaucracy.
That has led some lawmakers to say they have no plans to back the proposal in its current form. Some lawmakers said until the governor provides more clarity and certain revisions, the bill wont go anywhere in the state legislature.
The bill is currently being debated in the state Senate, and there will also be action in the House but it could be a few more weeks until the bill's outcome is known.

"Gee, that sounds kinda expensive...I'm going to oppose it because it's a waste of precious taxpayer resources."
"Let's have a $1.6 billion tax cut. It won't stimulate growth in the state, it won't increase employment and we'll pay for it by eliminating the sales tax exemption on groceries and raising car registration fees to $75 per year.."
"Great plan! Let's get started immediately!"
