Surveillance footage shows an armed robber firing a shot inside a local cannabis store and industry experts said these dangerous crimes are happening almost daily. The violence is renewing a push to open up banking rules to make these stores less of a target.
Changing federal laws so pot shops can accept credit and debit cards won't stop all the crime but owners said it could help.
The most recent store to be hit was Kushmans in Lynnwood on Thursday night. Footage shows two thieves waving their guns around as they filled their bags with cash. They even fired off a round and threatened a worker to open the safe before taking off.
Industry experts say these crimes have become constant.

There's one sheriff who's actually robbing the armored vehicles that ship the cash from these pot stores (they drive upon highways in his jurisdiction). The sheriff feels like he's got the right to do so.
To me, theft is theft, no matter who's doing it and the sheriff and all of them that stop these vehicles and seize the cash all should go to jail as they are literally stealing the money from a legitimate business.

(58,654 posts)in most states Pot shops are not allowed to have bank accounts insured by FDIC, which forces them to be cash only businesses.
That much cash attracts robbers. CO must have some state laws that circumvent the federal restrictions. Looks like WA is finally looking into it. Not a user of any kind, but it seems silly (and dangerous) to me to do it the way they do.
