Snow falling in parts of Western Washington, cold temps will stick around

SEATTLE - Plenty of us are waking to a snow coating outside our windows.

The lingering snow showers overnight overachieved, despite drier air over Western Washington, bringing as much as four inches near the foothill locales of North Bend and Snoqualmie Ridge. Bellevue and Seattle also got enough snow to cover some parked cars.

But the morning commute is going to be difficult as the sub-freezing temperatures are converting sidewalks and secondary roads into ice rinks.

"While the strong February sun will help improve road conditions, snow and ice could linger in the shaded spots," KOMO News Meteorologist Kristin Clark said. "High temperatures today stay in the 30's despite the bright sunshine."
