Seattle landmarks, sports teams wear orange in support of Gun Violence Awareness

Seattle’s landmarks and sports teams are wearing orange this weekend in support of National Gun Violence Awareness.

The Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, and all three major sports stadiums in the city are all lit up in an orange hue in recognition of Wear Orange Weekend. The ‘Wear Orange’ campaign signifies National Gun Violence Awareness Day, which annually takes place the first weekend of June.

From Seattle with Love 🧡 Over 400 landmarks around the country went orange tonight for National Gun Violence Awareness Day to honor the victims and survivors #WearOrange pic.twitter.com/Jw0BJu2qRw

The tradition started in 2015 in honor of a 15-year old girl who was shot and was killed at a Chicago playground.
