Pierce County Councilmember Hans Zeiger Announces Resignation

PUYALLUP, WA — Pierce County Councilmember Hans Zeiger has announced that he will be resigning from his position before the summer is over.

In a letter to his constituents Friday, Zeiger explained that he would be stepping down from the council on July 31 to accept a new role as president of the Jack Miller Center, a national nonprofit organization focused on American history and civics.

In his letter, Zeiger thanks Pierce County residents for their support, while expressing excitement for the job ahead.

"My time in state and local government has been an adventure and a privilege, filled with the joys and challenges of collaboration and problem-solving and service," Zeiger wrote. "Representative democracy has been called an “experiment in self-government,” and I will bring all the lessons and experiences of my time in state and local service with me to the work of advancing America’s civic ideals."
