More 'Revive I-5' lane closures scheduled for this holiday weekend

The Washington State Department of Transportation continues to work toward completing the Revive I-5 project in Seattle by the end of this summer, and there will be lane reductions during the Independence Day weekend.

WSDOT will be reducing lanes of southbound Interstate 5 between the southbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to Interstate 90 and South Holgate Street.

Additionally, both westbound and eastbound Interstate 90 off-ramps to southbound Interstate 5 will be closed.

Drivers should expect heavy congestion in the area when work starts at 9:30 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Monday.

But I went down about 10am which is a low traffic period. Even at that time things were getting backed up. I came home about noon and decided I’d stay put and avoid any freeway driving. When I worked in Portland I used to take a couple hours of annual leave on days like this so I could get out of town but even then things were bad. I do remember the last recession traffic dropped off. One of the few benefits of recession. Anyway, if Portland is bad I’d assume all of I5 will be bad today.
