El Pollo Loco is coming to the Puget Sound area

Popular Los Angeles-based chicken chain El Pollo Loco is coming to the Puget Sound area, the company announced Friday.

South Sound restaurateur Jean-Paul Pirio has signed a deal to open four El Pollo Loco locations in Pierce and South King counties.

“When I began researching different franchise opportunities, I was looking for a unique concept with a rich tradition that had the ability to bring people together around food, family and culture," Pirio said in a news release.

Leases have yet to be signed, though Pirio is looking at Federal Way, Kent, Tacoma and Puyallup.

Good food, excellent chicken- when I moved away, I tried to duplicate the recipe with lime and saffron, but - alas - never came close. Now I live in Florida and wish they would put one in among all the damn hamburger places here.
