Lake Stevens High School evacuated for YikYak bomb threat
LAKE STEVENS Police gave Lake Stevens High School students and staff the all-clear after after a bomb threat Friday morning, according to an email sent to parents.
Students and staff were evacuated from the school shortly after 11 a.m., an earlier email said. Police conducted a sweep of the building with the help of bomb-sniffing dogs and confirmed no explosive devices were present. Students returned to classes around 12:45 p.m.
The bomb threat was made through YikYak, an anonymous social media site, according to the district email. School officials promised to follow up with parents regarding the significant disruption the app has caused on campus.
While threats like these are most often fabricated, they are extremely disruptive to the education of our students and families and hinder their feelings of safety at school, the statement said.
