After days of flood and slide threats, a small WA town begins to breathe a sigh of relief

CONCRETE, Wash. — On Wednesday morning, sunlight glinted off the mud and moisture that still blanketed this small town in the Cascade foothills, hinting at what it had just endured.

Concrete residents held their breath through a spate of natural disasters and severe weather that unfolded over the past two weeks.

Atmospheric rivers dumped rain across western Washington, causing historic flooding in and around Whatcom and Skagit counties.

Concrete, located along Highway 20 in Skagit County, felt the effects.

Batten down the hatches! I've heard they are saying something like 7 inches of rain in the next several days.

I live on a hill, so not too worried for myself for flooding, but then there are mudslides..... Oh, and because of all the Solar activity lately, there is a possibility of Earthquakes in the bay area too.

It is always something.

At least everything has turned back to green, and fires are no longer a threat. Trying to look at the bright side.

And as far as politics, go ahead and eat another 3-4 Big Macs TSP. Have some more KFC while you are at it. (One can Hope)

I just checked out Weather Underground and it doesn't look good for Xmas. An atmospheric river will bring several inches in about 2 days. San Diego has had a dry Summer and Autumn so we really need the rain but this much over a short period will be disastrous. Much will be run-off since the soil is baked hard and dry at this point. A slow steady rain would allow for better absorption.
