Construction begins on $168M Issaquah high school after decade of planning

Construction is set to begin this month on a new Issaquah high school that has been in the works for a decade.

The Stockholm-based construction company Skanska said Monday that it signed a $99 million contract with the Issaquah School District to build the new school.

Skanska’s contract includes Phase 1 construction of the school, as well as a covered parking garage, an athletic field and a site work. The project's estimated completion date is August 2027, and the school anticipates opening that fall.

The total cost is projected at $168 million. The 85,000-square-foot school will be located at 4221 228th Ave. SE in Issaquah.
