Apartment project brings 84 affordable units to Ballard
San Francisco-based nonprofit housing developer Bridge Housing Corp. celebrated the grand opening of St. Lukes Apartments in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood on April 9, marking the completion of a long-anticipated affordable housing project developed in partnership with St. Lukes Episcopal Church.
The eight-story building at 2035 NW 58th St., just east of Ballard Commons Park, brings 84 units of housing to the neighborhood.
The development officially opened to residents in October and is already about 90% leased. Units are reserved for individuals and families earning up to 60% of the area median income, which works out to approximately $66,000 annually for a single person, according to the Seattle Office of Housing. Apartment configurations range from studios to three-bedroom units, spanning 408 to 1,094 square feet.
Designed by VIA Architecture, now part of Perkins Eastman, and built by Exxel Pacific, the 75,000-square-foot structure sits on a one-third-acre parcel the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia has owned for four decades. The diocese acquired the property in 1986 for $197,000, according to King County records.
