Memorial Stadium redevelopment goes vertical as $140 million project nears halfway point
With a little more than a year left on a $140 million redevelopment project, the new Memorial Stadium at Seattle Center is ready to go vertical.
During a recent tour of the site, the foundation and slabs had been mostly complete, and a Seattle Center spokesperson said the structural steel work was underway.
Workers broke ground on the 79-year-old stadium's overhaul in June 2025, and it is expected to finish by September 2027. Memorial Stadium, a not-for-profit facility, will have 6,500 seats and a total capacity of 8,000 when it is completed.
The renovated Memorial Stadium will include better sightlines from the stadium to the rest of Seattle Center, more open space, a continuous pedestrian concourse and more concessions and restrooms. The Seattle Center spokesperson added there will be four new locker rooms with training amenities, as well as upgraded sound and lighting, including two scoreboards.
