NPI, NPF unveil SearchTheLeft, an insightful new search engine for exploring and researching the progressive web

Today we’re excited to unveil the latest joint project developed by the Northwest Progressive Institute & Foundation: SearchTheLeft, a search engine for the progressive internet that specializes in surfacing great writing from the progressive, labor, and democratic-socialist web without wading through piles of digital muck.

Creating this has been on our to-do list for many years, but the impetus to bring it to life now was Google’s recent decision to deliberately push aside its decades-old search engine UI in favor of “AI-powered interactive experiences.” Via TechCrunch:

The era of the “ten blue links” is officially over.

At its Google I/O conference on Tuesday, Google unveiled an AI-powered overhaul of Search centered around a reimagined “intelligent search box” — what the company describes as the biggest change to this entry point to the web since the search box debuted more than 25 years ago.
