Three months after Donald Trump resumed attacking Iran, 75% of Washington voters say his policies are increasing their p
prices
An unprecedented percentage of likely Washington voters from across the political spectrum are now holding Donald Trump and his regime responsible for the rising cost of everyday life, according to the Northwest Progressive Institutes latest Civic Heartbeat survey. An eye-popping 75% of respondents surveyed a few days ago said Trumps policies are increasing the prices they pay for necessities, while a mere 16% said Trumps policies were decreasing them and 10% said they were unsure.
This is a big change from our wintertime Civic Heartbeat survey, when 62% said Trumps policies were increasing their prices and 28% said his policies were decreasing them. The major intervening event has been Trumps decision to help Netanyahus government in Israel wage war against Iran, an extremely unpopular decision thats driving his job performance rating down to a record low, as I wrote earlier.
Our winter survey fielded between February 23rd and 25th, right before Trump unconstitutionally and unjustifiably ordered U.S. forces to attack Iran, and our spring survey finished fielding on the three month anniversary of the first 2026 airstrikes.
Trumps war with Iran is driving a general increase in prices, but what people have really been taking notice of are increases in gas and diesel prices. Here you can see gasoline prices for Washington (all grades) going back several months:
