Former Seahawk Cliff Avril's affordable housing project secures Amazon funding
A planned affordable housing development led by former Seattle Seahawk and Super Bowl champion Cliff Avril has secured approximately $18.1 million in financing, including support from Amazons Housing Equity Fund.
C&A Development a partnership between Avril and real estate developer Alex Cohen received $6.7 million in low-cost capital from Amazons Housing Fund. Seattle Credit Union is serving as the senior lender and is providing an additional $11.4 million in construction capital.
Amazon, which announced the financing commitment Friday, has pledged more than $900 million through its Housing Equity Fund. The money has been used to create and preserve more than 10,000 affordable homes across the Puget Sound region, benefiting more than 22,000 residents.
C&A Development acquired the Capitol Hill property in 2021 for $3.3 million from Tobin Properties. A grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce helped fund predevelopment work. The grant amount was not disclosed.
