Seattle prosecutor dropping all marijuana tickets issued during the first 7 months of this year

Seattle's City Attorney Pete Holmes, announced his dropping all marijuana-related tickets issued in the first seven months of 2014.

Why? Most of the tickets were issued a single cop:

Through the first six months of the year, a single officer wrote about 80 percent of the tickets, addressing some of them to "Petey Holmes" or writing that he considered the pot law "silly."

The officer, Randy Jokela, is now under official investigation by the department's Office of Professional Accountability.

And while he may be under investigation, Officer Jokela is still on the beat:

"Chief O’Toole and (Office of Professional Accountability) Director Pierce Murphy conferred and believed that nothing in the ongoing investigation precluded him from returning to his patrol duties," said SPD spokesman Drew Fowler.

Most of the tickets were issued to tourists who purchase marijuana, at newly opened and legal stores, but don't have a place to legally light up. Most hotels are non-smoking and there are no smoking lounges, which is an issue Colorado needs to address as well.
